Resumo
The study aimed to unveil the possibilities of the Capemba Guardian of Life game for the teaching of Mathematics in the Youth, Adult, and Elderly Education modality (EJAI). The theoretical foundation is anchored in the Ethnomathematics Program, whose principal interlocutors in the dialogue are Ubiratan D’Ambrosio, Ubiratan D’Ambrosio Vergani, Vizolli, Barros, and Fialho, through a qualitative approach. The results reveal that the game constitutes a transdisciplinary pedagogical resource for the teaching of Mathematics in the EJAI modality by mobilizing knowledge related to the place value of numbers. It is concluded that the learning of school Mathematics in EJAI can be enhanced by taking as a reference the sociocultural knowledge and practices of babassu coconut breakers in the Cocais Region, in Maranhão, Brazil.
