Resumo
This research is a qualitative study whose objective was to design one of the possible dialogues between scientific and mathematical knowledge and knowledge from the Maranhão countryside used in rice production by small farmers, in the Altos Gerais region of the municipality of Balsas-MA, aimed at the materialization of science and mathematics teaching contextualized in rural schools. It was produced during the discipline of Science and Mathematics Teaching Methodologies in Rural Schools, of the Degree in Rural Education - Natural Sciences and Mathematics course, in the year 2021. To this end, in addition to outlining a history of the region, we characterized rice production in focus, through interviews and observation, and we identified some of the scientific and mathematical knowledge that dialogues with this rural knowledge, such as physics and mathematics knowledge intrinsic to this activity.
